JEFF SLATER
Jeff was born and raised in Erie, PA. Because of his passion for baseball he has played, or coached baseball in Erie, in some level over the past 35 years. He attended Cathedral Prep where he was a member of the baseball and basketball teams. He earned conference and regional awards in baseball his junior year as an outfielder and senior year as a pitcher, his first year of pitching since Little League.
After graduating high school Jeff continued his education, majoring in Marketing, and playing career at Gannon University. His shift to pitching enabled him a spot in the starting rotation as a freshman. When not on the mound, he continued playing the outfield, and for the first time, started playing first base. Jeff played baseball for Gannon for 3 years before a rotator cuff injury ended his playing career.
While at Gannon, Jeff worked part time at Professional Communications where he was a runner for the company. Twenty four years later, Jeff is still employed at Professional Communications, where he is in charge of all world-wide sales.
Jeff has been married to Jana (Kubaney) Slater, his high school catcher’s sister, for 18 years. They have two children, Madeline (13) and Jacob (10). Jeff has coached his children in many different sports, on many different levels over the years.
If not watching his daughter play softball, or both kids competitively swimming, or coaching the Erie Steelheads baseball team, you can probably find him on one of the local streams, enjoying his other passion which is fly fishing for Steelhead!
