In 2017 Erie Steelheads baseball partnered with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). PCA is part of Stanford University's Department of Athletics. This non-profit organization was founded in 1998, and its mission is to "transform youth sports so sports can transform youth." Some national Partners of PCA are AAU, Little League Baseball, Major League Baseball, U.S. Kids Golf, US Club Soccer, US Lacrosse and USA Baseball.
PCA includes three main Positive Coaching themes:
To redefine a "winner," so that a winner is an individual who's given maximum effort, continually learned and improved, and is not afraid of mistakes.
To honor the game, by respecting the rules, officials, teammates, opponents and self.
To fill players' emotional tanks, by giving them more positive feedback than criticism.
